STUDENT ORG REQUIREMENTS

  • Advisor Requirements

    All organizations must identify an advisor to maintain recognition. Organizations may choose to have multiple advisors, but are strongly encouraged to have at least one advisor who is a faculty or staff member at VCU.

    Organizations must share advisor information through new org registration or annual registration. If an org changes advisors at any point outside of registration, they must promptly submit an advisor change form.

  • Executive Board Requirements

    Maintain a president, vice president, and treasurer at all times.

    Ensure current executive board members are listed as officers in Ramsconnect at all times, and especially prior to registration.

    Undergraduate officers must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester.

    Graduate/professional officers must be in good standing with their academic department and enrolled and in a minimum of 3 credit hours per semester.

  • Membership Requirements

    Maintain a minimum of 8 student members

    Maintain accurate roster of all members, including all officer positions, in RamsConnect

    Ensure a current copy of the organization's constitution and/or bylaws is available on your org's RamsConnect group page.

  • Non-discrimination Requirements

    Organizations must not discriminate in access to its activities on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin (including ethnicity and actual or perceived shared ancestry), age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, lactation and related medical conditions), parenting status, marital status, political affiliation, military status (including veteran status), genetic information (including family medical history), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or disability. All VCU students who support the mission of an organization should be welcome to participate in its events.

  • Comprehensive Student Org Handbook Requirements

    Student organizations must review and adhere to all guidelines included in the Student Organization Handbook.

    In addition to the handbook, organizations must comply with VCU's Student Code of Conduct and policies as well as local, state and federal laws.

    ****Sponsored organizations, Sport Clubs, Student Media organizations, and Graduate and Professional organizations, as well as organizations that fall under the College Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, Unified Greek Council, and National Pan-Hellenic Council, may have additional requirements that must be completed through their respective offices to maintain active status.
