Department of State

The Department of State is in charge of organizing projects and initiatives that serve the Richmond community. This includes promoting services that improve off campus life for students, along with strengthening our relationship with the Richmond community. In addition, we connect with other Student Governments at various colleges and universities in order to have dialogue and collaborate on initiatives to better our college towns. The State Department is also in charge of organizing a yearly day of community service called “The Big Event” that is meant for VCU students, faculty, and staff to give back to the Richmond area through service. Recent initiatives from the State Committee include a free STI testing program, and a partnership with Ram City Market for students to use meal swipes to donate canned goods to local food pantries.
