Hi First_Name,
👋 Welcome Back, You First Family!
We hope you’ve been settling into campus life and finding your rhythm this semester. Each month, you’ll get updates on events, fun facts, and ways to get more involved.
🤔 Fun Fact of the Month
Did you know? 37% of incoming freshmen at VCU identify as first-generation college students. This reflects the growing presence and impact of first-gen students at VCU.
🎉 Meet Your E-Board – Spotlights of the Month This month’s spotlight: Crisley Ventura & Tanvir Rukunuzzaman
Meet the President!
"Hi My name is Crisley! I am a Biology major with a chemistry minor in a Pre-dental track! I’m excited to start my junior year and be President!
I’m looking forward to connecting with more First-Gen students and help as much as I can, like others helped me in my journey!
I love music! I played the guitar and ukulele for a while, but need to practice some more! A fun fact is also that I played the cello for about 6 years!"
Meet the Vice President!
"My name is Tanvir Rukunuzzaman, a rambunctious and optimistic junior in VCU. I have lived in Richmond VA my whole life, and I’m excited to see all the new and familiar faces at our YouFirst events. It’s always exciting to see our close-knit first-gen student community grow bigger and stronger every year.
This semester, I’m especially looking forward to finally diving into classes for my minor, as well as reconnecting with old friends at VCU! And of course I’m looking forward to finishing my classes in style (and dread).
Oh and a few fun facts about me: I like to do photography, I’m in two dance teams, and - here’s the catcher - I hate ketchup."
