 Hot Topic

The MSS and SVA will host a graduation ceremony for our Veteran and Active Duty Students on May 1st at the Virginia War Memorial. There will also be an induction ceremony for our new SALUTE Scholars.

Eligible Veterans should make an appointment to meet with their academic advisor if they have not done so already to ensure that they do not have any registration holds on their accounts that might prohibit registration. Once registered, please make sure to submit your RFC and have your advisor approve it.

If you are planning on staying in the RVA area for the summer break and in need of food assitance, please check out the Rams Pantry

School Certifying Official Updates

For Chapter 33 post 9/11 Gi Bill students

The VA will reach out each month to verify enrollment to keep sending monthly BAH payments. If you receive a text from the VA asking to confirm your enrollment, please be sure to reply with "Y" if you are still in classes. If you mark "N"... the VA will stop sending your monthly cost of living payments until your enrollment status can be verified.
If you have questions about the payment status for GI Bill benefits, please contact the VA at 888-GIBILL-1 (888-442-4551) for assistance. You can also visit us in person at 1015 Floyd Avenue, Room 3122 for further assistance.

Are you planning on taking Summer courses?

As summer is a "nontraditional" semester with courses of various lengths and start/stop dates, the full time/part time determination is a different calculation.  If you are using VA benefits for Summer, submit your online RFC as you normally would, but also check with our office so we can help you determine your full time or part time status.  If you are a VMSDEP student and using your benefit for Summer, please be aware that Summer uses a full semesters worth of eligibility... so if you are only taking one Summer course, you might not be getting a good value for this very valuable benefit.  If you have questions, please visit us in Harris Hall, or call 804.828.6533
